Teixits J. Marí Serra

Teixits J. Marí Serra was the first store in Formentera devoted to fabrics and garment-making. Josep Marí de Can Pep Antonina opened the business in 1953 and his daughter Caterina is now in charge of the establishment following her vocation. They are known for offering their customers comprehensive and personalized advice with highly qualified staff.

At the beginning, work was largely on commission, helping to incorporate women into the labour market, making wool sweaters in canary stitch, embroidered blouses and handkerchiefs, among others. It also helped to use the wool produced in Formentera. It accompanied the first years of tourist development in two ways: making hippy clothes and supplying material to the first tourist establishments of Formentera.

The establishment is located in a building in the old town of Sant Francesc Xavier, which is therefore protected.

They have more than 65 years of experience in the textile trade, which endorses them as one of the reference companies in the sale of fabrics on the island of Formentera, receiving the Business Excellence Award from the Chamber of Commerce 2018.
