Can Jordi

More than a century old, this establishment is a small family-run roadside shop and bar. As was customary in the past in this type of business, it has a small bar that is part of the premises. Vicent Puvil, an Ibizan emigrant who returned from America, opened the business in the second decade of the last century. The locals came to buy basic products all year round, and the peasants who travelled along the old Es Cubells road frequented the bar.

In 1940, the grandparents of Vicent Marí, the current owner and third generation of the family, rented Can Puvil and eventually bought the business and gave it its current name, Can Jordi. The premises have an Indian architecture due to the experiences of its first owner, and the store is used as an exhibition room for photographs, drawings and paintings.

Nowadays, you can buy good products from the Ibizan countryside, pastries and sausages from the island and the odd handmade “basket” (senalló o cistelló). Apart from that, Vicent Marí, who was a great music lover, has been offering concerts on Fridays and Saturdays for the last ten years, in which hundreds of local, national and international musicians have participated.
